Marshall Finds Victory Lane at Angell Park Speedway

Sun Prairie, WI (June 4th, 2023) - The 2021 Wisconsin WingLESS Sprints Champion Ryan Marshall raced his way into victory lane after a fight with Davey Ray with the AutoMeter Wisconsin WingLESS Sprints. This was Marshall’s first win of the season and his second win in two years at Angell Park Speedway.

29 entries meant three group qualifying sessions and three heats for the series. Beach Park, IL’s Allen Hafford was the quickest out of the field at a 15.106 second lap. Heat races saw Hafford, Ryan Zielski, and Davey Ray pick up wins, all coming from their second row starting positions.

A B-Main, which saw 6 drivers lock into the A-Main was dominated by the Genesee, WI native Eric Wilke as he won in convincing fashion, a whole straightaway in front of second place Seth Johnson. Natalie Klemko, Austin Hansen, Dave Wallace, and Ralph Johnson also all stamped their tickets to the A-Main.

Ryan Marshall and Tim Cox found themselves on the front row of the twenty lap A-Main for the AutoMeter Wisconsin WingLESS Sprints. Marshall took off well but it was Davey Ray who was the one to watch, as he came out the gates fighting fast up to second from his fifth starting spot by the end of lap one. Ray drove it in deep in turn three on lap two to pass Marshall for the lead and started to run from the pack. Ray, who earlier in the night rolled a midget during qualifying, amassed a big lead from Marshall in second before he hit a massive group of lap traffic. Ray was able to maneuver most of the lapped cars but got caught behind a set fighting on the exit of turn two on lap thirteen which opened the door for Marshall to slip by and retake the race lead. Ray would make one attempt at the race lead in turns three and four on the same lap but would be able to pass the 7X before two yellow flags came out. The 22 of Greg Alt found himself spun in turn one first, and then, as the field went back green, Ryan Zielski went too high in turn two and his front end ended up broken. The field went back green with Marshal in the lead and Ray in tow. Marshall was able to defend from Ray’s hail mary attempted to retake the lead and drive off into the night, collecting the checkered flag and win on the night. Davey Ray brought it home in second and Tim Cox finished third. Hard charger on the night went to Eric Wilke, up eight spots from his initial starting position.

The AutoMeter Wisconsin WingLESS Sprints return to Angell Park Speedway on July 2nd, racing with the Advanced Fastening Supply Badger Midgets and a firework show after the races.
