Hafford Takes Win

21 Wisconsin wingLESS sprints presented by the IRA cars signed in for action Saturday night at Wilmot Raceway. 2015 series champion Doug Schenck set quick time followed by Jimmy Sivia and Craig Campton. Allen Hafford would qualify 4th with series newcomer Patrick Haynes in 5th.
Heat 1 would see veteran Tim Cox take the early lead, Doug Schenck would quickly work his way to 2nd and challenge Cox for the lead but would be unable to. Cox and Schenck would finish 1,2 followed by James Walldan and Allen Hafford. Matt White would bring his 27 machine home 5th.
Heat 2 saw Milwaukee's Jordan Mattson take the early lead. 4th starting Sivia would quickly move through the field and challenge Mattson. On lap 5 Sivia would complete the pass on Mattson and take the lead, but 2 laps later Mattson battled back to reclaim the lead and eventually the win. Sivia would have to settle for 2nd followed by last week's feature winner Derek Crane. Rod Colburn and Nathan Crane would round out the top 5.
In Heat 3 Chris Klemko would take the early lead and have to fend off challenges from Campton in his 7s. Klemko would bring home the win, but 2nd place would be taken by Nick Petska on the last lap. Campton would settle for 3rd followed by defending series champion Todd Lehr and rookie Garret Deieso in 4th and 5th respectively.
A main action saw Allen Hafford take the early lead with Jimmy Sivia in 2nd. Lap 2 would see Rod Colburn get upside down in his 96.5 car. The restart will allow Sivia a chance to challenge Hafford for the lead but he would be unsuccessful. Behind the battle for the lead, 8th place starting Mattson would charge through the field in his Behling Racing Products 2 machine. When the checkerd flag fell Allen Hafford would be victorious for the first time with the wingLESS series. Mattson would grab 2nd place from Sivia on the last lap, relegating Sivia to 3rd. Tim cox would bring his 48 car home 4th followed by Schenck’s 71s in 5th.
