Wisconsin wingLESS Sprints
Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Series
The Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Series (by IRA) is based on providing fans and racers both, traditional sprint car racing at an affordable price. The group has Wisconsin's historical home for Sprint Cars, Wilmot Raceway as it's base and will be a Saturday night fixture there throughout most of the season. The group will spread its' (non-wings) occasionally and compete at other local venues such as Angell Park Speedway, and have competed at both Beaver Dam Raceway and the Plymouth Dirt Track previously. Our IRA sanctioned group is based on a true Sprint Car rolling chassis, really no different than a IRA 410, USAC, MSA, or even World of Outlaw car. The affordable aspect and where the term wingLESS (with the LESS being emphasized) is the engine package. This series was designed with 2 engine options, the GM Crate 604 which has been used very successfully in the IMCA Modified and RUSH Late Model series, and our Spec engine option which was designed specifically to compete on level playing field with the 604. The engines should live throughout an entire season, or possibly seasons, without any maintenance other than changing fluids and cleaning filters. We have come up with a 450hp limit which will prevent the need for any high dollar lightweight after market parts. There is testing and protest procedure in place that regulates the process, but other than that, there really isn't any difference in these cars compared to the nations premier series, the tires are even the same!
